How to Shrink Crocs

Crocs have been a subject of debate ever since their initial launch in the early 2000s.

Whether you love them or hate them, crocs will always be in style. A lot of people rush to the stores to get their hands on a pair of stylish crocs. In this excitement, some people may purchase bigger crocs. So, the question is can you shrink your favorite pair of crocs?

Well, yes, you can! So, in case you got yourself a pair of crocs that are a little too big for you, keep reading to find out how you can shrink them down to size!

What Are Crocs?

They are an extremely popular American brand of footwear that is now popular throughout the globe. It has made its way into the markets of so many countries and is available in different sizes, styles, and colors.

These stylish footwear pieces are made of a material called “Crosslite” (a type of resin that is a closed-cell), and this material can neither be classified as rubber or plastic. This is a patented material that the company owns.

This material is what makes the Crocs look very attractive to the general public. They are very lightweight when compared to other footwear, and they are also extremely soft. Additionally, they are also resistant to any kind of sweat, odor, marks, and scars. They are non-toxic, which makes them suitable for younger children as well.

They are also resistant to bacterial and fungal growth and can be easily cleaned out with lukewarm water and soap!

How To Shrink Crocs

As mentioned above, the Crosslite material is resistant to several problem-causing factors: odor, sweat, bacterial growth, etc. However, there is one factor that can be slightly problematic to this material. And that is heat.

And this is exactly how you can shrink your crocs! This task is extremely easy as you will not need any professional help and can be done independently.

That being said, you do need to be a little careful as exposing the material to a lot of heat can cause the material to damage. If it reaches this point, one may not be able to use the footwear and will simply have to buy a new pair.

And as easy as it may be to shrink them, you will also need to have a continuous watch over them. If the footwear shrinks too much, it can’t be undone.

There are two effective ways to shrink your Crocs.

Method 1: 5 Easy Steps To Shrink Down Your Crocs Using A Dryer

Now that you know you can shrink your crocs, the next big question is this: How do you shrink crocs?  All you need is a dryer and a few wet towels.

Lucky for you, we’ve listed the process of shrinking your Crocs in 5 easy steps!

Step 1: Adjust The Required Settings

In order to get started with this process, the first thing you will need to do adjust all the required settings on your dryer. This includes the timer and temperature settings.

Keep in mind to set these levels at a minimum. Overheating the material of the crocs could damage it, and this damage cannot be undone.

The ideal setting for the timer is 10 minutes, and the heat settings can be set between low to medium levels. Do not go any higher than this limit.

Step 2: Set Down The Crocs And The Wet Towels In The Dryer

Once the levels have been set on the dryer, place the crocs inside it. Also, add two extra wet towels. Make sure the towels are not too wet or too dry.

Once you’ve placed them both inside the machine, let it run for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Keep An Eye On The Machine

Once the process has begun, it is necessary for you to keep a watch on it. This is just to ensure that the heat is just adequate to help with shrinking. As mentioned earlier, if the heat inside the dryer becomes too much, it can cause the material of the crocs to damage permanently.

If this happens, there is no certain way to restore their condition. This is why it’s important to keep a check on the heat level and make sure it is just right.

If you have correctly followed the steps till this point, the Crocs should have shrunk visibly.

Step 4: Inspect the Condition Of Your Crocs

Once the timer is up, take out your crocs and examine their condition. See if they have shrunken enough to give you the desired fit. Do not immediately try them on as there is a good chance they are still hot from the dryer.

Step 5: Allow Your Crocs To Cool Down

When taking the Crocs out of the dryer, they may still be hot. Immediately, remove them from the machine. The heat inside the dryer could cause extra damage to them.

Once you remove them from the dryer, place them in a well-ventilated space and allow them to cool down. One way to know they’ve cooled down is when you pick them up, and it does not cause any burns. At this stage, you can try them on.

You’ll notice a very obvious change in size at this point, and you can wear your favorite crocs comfortably!

If they still have not shrunken to give you the desired fit, or if you still find them a little loose, you can always repeat the process. The stretchability of the material allows the footwear to shrink at any given time easily.

Method 2: Shrink Down Your Crocs With The Sun

Additionally, if you don’t have a dryer in your house, you can simply leave them out in the sun for a few minutes. This is especially effective on a hot sunny afternoon when the sun is at its peak.

This method will also require careful monitoring, similarly to that of the dryer.
